1 Corinthians 1:4-9 Discipling Disciples - God is faithful by Gordon Williamson

To be a disciple of Jesus is one of the most amazing blessings we could ever experience. To be under his teaching and guidance throughout our lives has to be amazing!! It means that we have Jesus as our chief discipler through the inner working of the Holy Spirit. He teaches us how to speak the language of his kingdom, he renews our mind and changes our thinking, so that our lives can be for his glory. Not only that, but he graciously equips us with spiritual gifts (gifts from the Spirit), so that we can play our part as his faithful witnesses, until he returns. That is glorious!!

However, when it comes to discipleship we can often be weighed down by our inadequacies and failures. When this happens, we can quickly lose focus and become discouraged, forgetting that we are disciples of Jesus - thinking we are on our own. But listen to what Paul writes to the Corinthians:

"I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way - with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge - God confirming in you our testimony about Christ. Therefore, you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for the Lord Jesus to be revealed. He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord." (1 Cor 1:4-9) NIVUK

What an encouragement. Paul reminds them and us that we've been called into fellowship with Jesus Christ our Lord. Despite challenges and struggles that can weigh us down, God is faithful and will keep us firm to the end. We will surely be blameless on the day that the Lord Jesus appears.

The beauty of these words is the focus on what God has done and will do. To be in fellowship with Jesus is to be in an indissoluble partnership or an unbreakable union with Him. Our well-being and our destiny lie with Jesus - we are in Him and he will not fail to keep us secure.

Today, if you hear his voice - listen up - He is faithful and wants the best for you!
